We’re the first New York State certified, through the board of education, 300 hour natural hair course in NYC. Our course consists of styling, chemistry as applied to natural hair, hair analysis, etc. We train and prepare students to not only take and pass the licensing exam through in class work as well as hands-on experience, but to be a proficient stylist capable of working in any salon environment.

Although I can't personally recommend a school that focuses purely on "black people's hair", I can assure you that ALL of these schools will provide practice with all types of hair textures and styles. They are not one race specific. If you are looking for more info, there is a fantastic beauty blogger named Leila Noelliste. Her site "Black Girl with Long Hair", caters to a niche market and she may be able to provide some more info.

My daughter is about to graduate high school and wants to go to cosmotolgy school. I see all these schools here but are there any school that also focus on black people’s hair? She has been doing weaves and styling wigs for black girls in her school since 9th grade and I want her to be able to learn about all different kinds of hair, make-up, skin tones, hair types, etc with all different kinds of people. Not just one specific race of people.

I like the idea of having a cosmetology school to help my wife learn how to do hair. I would like for her to be able to cut my hair. I like the idea of not paying every time I get my hair cut.
